About the Blogger

Becandbooks acknowledges and pays respect to the Yuggera people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which this website and brand are created, and pays respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

My name is Bec and I am a tattooed, queer and neurodiverse Australian librarian who reads way too many books at once. I am the face behind Becandbooks which was established in September 2017. I love anything related to the literary world and so Beandbooks is where I dabble in reviewing and book discussions, with some blogging tips thrown in as well.

Support and Affiliations

Becandbooks wholeheartedly supports the creation of diverse literature, and the publication of diverse authors – I encourage all readers to delve into stories that share and support diversity. However, the impact of diversity as a trend is also recognised and kept in mind throughout the creation of this website.

Where possible, OwnVoice reviews are created for stories that include the following character representation: depression, anxiety, ADHD, bi/pansexuality.

NOTE: There are countless experiences within these spheres, however, and my opinions will not reflect all within these groups.

NOTE: Support of diverse content does not mean I will not give criticism to these stories. I aim to be honest and critical in ALL reviews and discussions, no matter the genre, inclusion, author, or publisher.

Trigger Warning Database

I am part of the incredible team at Trigger Warning Database, a resource that compiles data about triggering content within books. The database helps to create a safe environment for all readers when they engage with their favourite hobby.

You will also find trigger warnings on almost all of the book reviews on this website. Please, if you think you cannot handle certain themes or topics that may be present within books, read safely and check these out before picking up your next read.

All trigger warnings will be hidden behind spoiler tags for readers who do not wish to view them.
